Centre for Food Safety (CFS)
The Pesticide Residues in Food Regulation (Cap 132CM) came into force on 1 August 2014. In Hong Kong, the Centre for Food Safety (CFS) of the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department is responsible for the overall safety of food.

Under the food surveillance programme of CFS, samples of different foods are taken for monthly analysis and verification of compliance. Pesticide residues are one of the parameters for testing. You can find CFS’s Food Surveillance Programme in the link below. As shown in the result, CFS has often found unsatisfactory samples with pesticide residuals that exceed the legal limit or are prohibited.
